What “complete system” means
An HVAC system in a typical Frisco home is four things: the outdoor condenser, the indoor evaporator coil, the furnace or air handler that moves the air, and the ductwork that distributes it. A complete replacement covers the first three. Ductwork is quoted separately, because most of the time it does not need doing.

Manufacturers warrant matched sets more generously than mixed ones, and some decline coverage on mismatched configurations entirely.
The rough arithmetic: a condenser-and-coil changeout now plus a furnace in two years runs 15–25% more than a complete system today, before you count the efficiency you did not get in the interim.
When not to do the full system
If your furnace is meaningfully newer than the AC — say it was replaced four years ago and the condenser has just failed — replacing both is money spent early for no gain. We will quote the AC alone and say so.
The rule we use: if the two halves are within about five years of each other and both are past ten, replace together. Otherwise do not.
HVAC in Frisco — the planning window
Most people replace an HVAC system in July, because that is when it fails. It is also the worst time to buy one: schedules are full, lead times are longer, and you are making a five-figure decision in a hot house.

Tax credits and rebates
The federal 25C credit covers 30% of qualifying equipment cost — up to $600 for a qualifying air conditioner, up to $2,000 for a qualifying heat pump, and the categories can be combined in the same tax year up to an annual cap. Equipment has to meet the efficiency tier in force on the installation date, so it is worth confirming before you choose the unit rather than after.

Do the ducts need doing too?
Part of the load calculation is measuring what the duct system can actually carry. A complete system replacement is the cheapest possible moment to fix undersized returns or leaking attic trunks, because the equipment is already out.
